The Music Theatre NOW Network is presenting the sixth edition of the international competition for music theatre and new opera in cooperation with the International Theatre Institute and O. with support of ITI The Netherlands and Performing Arts Fund NL. The Music Theatre NOW Competition wants to find out how music theatre develops and is shaped by the use of various media forms. Therefore the competition is open to all forms of multi- and intermedia presentations – including interactive online works, live audio experiences as long as they integrate a performative aspect – and of course staged performances!
The awards will be presented in Rotterdam in 2024 and the winners will be invited to present their work in short lectures at the MTN international convention during O. in May 2024.
Music Theatre NOW aspires to be the premier global network of music theatre presenters to support this unique genre. The network seeks to promote new music theatre as the most vibrant interdisciplinary art form of the present time that tackles contemporary issues, pushes boundaries and explores new aesthetics.
Music Theater Now is a collaboration between International Theatre Institute ITI and O., with the support of ITI Netherlands.

O. gebruikt haar stad als podium en decor. Veel voorstellingen zijn op onalledaagse en onontdekte locaties in de stad: pleinen, woonkamers, kerken, een oude wasserij, winkel, bovenop de Bijenkorf en zelfs een fitnesscentrum.
