VIAJERO DEL AMOR [A Lover’s Journey] $~rel.O.aded~$​ is a poetic pop opera in three languages about love and migration. It was created to honour and celebrate the life and courage of the more than 180 Venezuelans who died as they tried to leave their country in boats over the past years. To escape the domestic crisis, they made a valiant attempt to flee to Trinidad and Tobago and the Dutch Antilles. The performance takes the shape of a Spanish lesson in a musical world, hovering between opera, jazz, and pop, in which ARIAH LESTER speaks of forced migration and inequality.
