Ascension
Award-winning virtual-reality performance in the monumental HAKA building
Leon Rogissart & Paul Boereboom (BE)
If we imagine all the surrounding sounds gone, how would our human mantra sound? How do I facilitate a dialogue between head and heart? The virtual reality performance Ascension attempts to create a space where those questions can be research. A collective theatrical ritual in which we start looking for our inner voice.
Leon Rogissart and Paul Boereboom try to offer a canvas onto which the visitors themselves can reflect and associate. A space where we are allowed to let go, momentarily, of what our physical body and the outside world demand of us and to just ‘be’. The performance is based on a search for the equilibrium between our hearts and heads. Is it even possible to achieve such a balance? And what kind of interaction would be the result?
