GAIA-24

Moving geohistorical performance about Mother Earth

Roman Grygoriv, Illia Razumeiko, Opera Aperta (UA)

The opening performance GAIA-24. Opera del Mondo is currently sold out. Tickets may still become available last minute. Keep an eye on our website and socials!

GAIA-24. Opera del Mondo is a gripping geohistorical performance by award-winning Ukrainian composer duo Roman Grygoriv and Illia Razumeiko. The impressive project shows the raw reality of our planet and the devastating impact of human actions, in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Enter a world where Mother Earth raises her voice in powerful tones and images. In the midst of the chaos, Opera Aperta wonders amidst beams of light and video projections whether we can still hear what Mother Earth is saying. An inventive performance that explores the boundaries of music, theatre and ecology.

“When the earth gives a rich harvest, be ready for a great war. When seas dry up, rivers change their paths and forests become uninhabitable by radiation – an empire will soon fall. When the end of the world comes, earth and sky will become one. This is how Gaia, Gaea, Terra, Maga, Mother Gaia speaks to us.”

GAIA-24. Opera del Mondo is part of First Night, the opening night of O. 2024. After the opening performance you can experience previews of performances throughout the theater that will be shown later in the festival.

“Opera Aperta, former winner of the Music Theatre Now competition, returns to O. with their new production. This inventive musical theatre group from Kiev brings sparkling and contemporary work and this world creation as the opening of O. promises to be impressive.” – Guy Coolen, artistic director O.

Locatie
