EXILE
Musicale lecture performance about political cabaret during WOII
Lulu Obermayer (DE)
In EXILE Lulu Obermayer retraces the history and the repertoire of Die Pfeffermühle, a legendary German political literary cabaret founded by Erika and Klaus Mann, Therese Giehse and Magnus Henning in Munich in 1933. Immediately after Adolf Hitler’s seizure of power the artistic team went to Zurich into exile, where they successfully relaunched their cabaret and toured with over 1000th performances around Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg and Czechoslovakia- through the maze and grid lock of censorship. In the format of a lecture performance Lulu Obermayer assembles archival material, original songs and storytelling.
