Sheba

Festive open-air opera where different cultures meet

World Opera Lab in collaboration with Koor op Zuid

World Opera Lab returns to O. with the new intercultural opera Sheba. A festive, connective open-air performance. Sheba tells the love story of two people from totally different cultures. The story is very popular in many places. From the Song of Solomon to the Quran, from Persian mystical poetry to the Ethiopian epic Kabra Negast. With Nyanga Weder as Sheba and baritone Sinan Vural as Solomon.

The opera is a tapestry of music from various cultures including Handel’s famous Arrival of the Queen of Sheba as well as traditional love songs from Yemen, Iran, Morocco, Turkey, Ethiopia, and Surinam.

“The World Opera Lab embraces and nourishes everyone who loves opera that originates from anywhere. – Guy Coolen (artistiek directeur O.)

Locatie
