Poor Thing

Music theatre with melancholic lute songs and a magical piece of furniture

VOX Muziektheater, Linde Schinkel & Martine van Ditzhuyzen

Lifelong living. A cabinet full of stuff. As Dowland’s wistful 17th-century lute songs are heard, a magical writing desk decides that it is story time. About objects from the past, memories of happy and not-so-happy moments, about beauty and transience, consolation and grief. The cabinet slowly unfolds as captivating still lifes pop up. Yet, everything perishes in the end. Even a cabinet full of stuff.

“Linde is a singer and visual artist who combines early music and enchanting theatre in fabulous ways, together with Martine and David.” – Tobias Kokkelmans (dramaturgy O.)

“[…] The tone is set by the details. As Linde takes off her eyelashes and make-up in a still-life frame in the cabinet, the emotion is harrowing.”

Locatie
