O. Lab: Siriana, mijn vriendin
The invisible life of a woman with autism
Karlijn Hamer (NL)
Music theatre maker Karlijn Hamer shows the first sketches of her new work: Siriana, mijn vriendin (Siriana, My Friend). A musical installation annex performance about her friendship with Siriana who was her best friend in primary school. She was diagnosed with autism relatively late, at age 30. This shed new light on many aspects of her life. Based on the memories of their childhood and their ongoing friendship, Karlijn takes you on a journey into the inner world of someone who has autism. A space for and inhabited by Siriana. The performance makes visible a perspective that is often invisible in our society. It puts how women live with autism sharper into focus.
Research question: Do you experience, or recognize, as an onlooker, what it is like to be on the autism spectrum?
