O. Lab: One Man Show

Baroque opera, electronic music and object theatre for a fresh take on gender

VOX Muziektheater (NL)

O. Lab: One Man Show will be a musical and visual performance for adults in which live sung classical music, electronic music and object theatre come together equally in an innovative combination. In a selection of arias from baroque operas, three performers question the gender division and explore a new view of gender behaviour. The phenomenon of the Baroque era, the castrato singers, takes centre stage. Besides the beautifully sung arias and physical acting, everyday small objects and a landscape of large body parts are the performance’s supporting elements. The objects tell stories like no other about what we see as typically feminine or masculine.

About O. Lab
O. Lab offers the audience a peak into the theatre makers’ rehearsal rooms. Something that is normally reserved for the select few… Artists will share their research questions. As the visitor, you are invited to watch and express your valuable opinions about prototypes and works in progress. O. Lab in WORM is one big creative space and you will be sitting in the front row as the processes unfold!

“[…] The tone is set by the details. As Linde takes off her eyelashes and make-up in a still-life frame in the cabinet, the emotion is harrowing.”

Locatie
