O. Lab: O-Golem

Beta version of a chamber opera

Manuel Sánchez García (ES), Elodie Glerum (NL/CH)

O. Lab – O-Golem is a beta-version of a chamber opera in a pottery workshop. The opera reinterprets ancient lore: the creation of human being in clay. It does so in the light of scientific advancements on genetics, consciousness, and AI (artificial intelligence).

The possibility to reproduce or imitate life has always been a topic of fascination and has haunted us humans for centuries. What is life? What can define humanness? Where do we put boundaries? the opera engages into a fascinating dialogue with the audience, involving arts and sciences, life and death, consciousness and hallucination, and exploring fundamental questions.

Research question: How would human condition be the last remainder of sacrality?

About O. Lab
O. Lab offers the audience a peak into the theatre makers’ rehearsal rooms. Something that is normally reserved for the select few… Artists will share their research questions. As the visitor, you are invited to watch and express your valuable opinions about prototypes and works in progress. O. Lab in WORM is one big creative space and you will be sitting in the front row as the processes unfold!

“As an audience at O. Lab, you are close to the creative process of the artists. This way, as a visitor, you get a first look at a project that is still to be developed and you get into the head of the creators.” – Guy Coolen, artistic director O.

Locatie
