O. Lab: Instant Musical Journalism

In-depth journalism and musical improvisations

Andrea Voets / Resonate Productions (NL)

Resonate Productions makes musical journalism: performances and podcasts that combine investigative journalism with lots of original music. Right now, Resonate Productions is developing instant musical journalism: a new, revolutionary technique of improvisation, in which three musicians support and enable meaningful conversations as they unfold. They do this with their music and in words, as musicking moderators.

In this very first public experiment, we’ll talk about what it means for any person to be taken seriously, to feel understood and to matter.  The starting point is the intellectual undermining of women and the lack of interest in what they say, make or try to do in life.

Research question: How can three musicians carry and facilitate meaningful and risky conversations as they unfold, with improvised music?

About O. Lab
O. Lab offers the audience a peak into the theatre makers’ rehearsal rooms. Something that is normally reserved for the select few… Artists will share their research questions. As the visitor, you are invited to watch and express your valuable opinions about prototypes and works in progress. O. Lab in WORM is one big creative space and you will be sitting in the front row as the processes unfold!

“As an audience at O. Lab, you are close to the creative process of the artists. This way, as a visitor, you get a first look at a project that is still to be developed and you get into the head of the creators.” – Guy Coolen, artistic director O.

Locatie
