O. Lab: Hello Schatje, Adios Amour
Must we experience love at least once to feel complete?
Augusto Pedraza (MX)
Hello Schatje, Adios Amour is a work that transforms the stage into an intimate confessional space where text provides a context, while music guides us along a path of romantic love in all its forms, energies and sensations. It will conclude in a ritual/concert, like Latinos engage in, to heal wounds and celebrate our love with a high degree of emotionality and an energy release.
A personal work that began as one of the thousands of love stories in which a migrant falls in love with a European, raising questions about identity, culture, race, privilege and family. Navigating various obstacles and complex conversations, leading us to ask: Why do we go to such lengths for LOVE? Is love overrated? Or do we repeat the narrative of what love is and how to love?
‘Schools of love’ do not exist, and we all assume that we will learn and understand how to love others.
A proposal from the perspective of Latin American and Mexican identity showing the romantic picture of the drama, satire and comedy of those who experienced love in all its colors exploring a universe of emotions that are often misunderstood despite scientific explanations, but which are deeply felt and often uncontrollable.
We work with personal testimonies collected from interviews conducted with a diverse number of people in Belgium, Spain, Mexico and Brazil about their romantic experiences acting as inspiration, combined with the personal love story of host Augusto, this work presents an open vision of ways of giving and receiving love different from the traditional ones.
