O. Lab: Alma

Intimate opera between fact and fiction

Intercontinental Ensemble (NL)

O. Lab: Alma is a chamber opera about Alma Mahler, the most beautiful girl in Vienna. After the death of her daughter Manon in 1935, Alma has to make a choice: Does she jump on board of the emerging National Socialism? Does she remain faithful to her deceased Jewish husband, Gustav Mahler? Or does she choose for herself? A chamber opera about the price of being yourself, in which fact and fiction merge, and no one says out loud what they really think.

Research question: Can a contemporary audience identify with Alma?

About O. Lab
O. Lab offers the audience a peak into the theatre makers’ rehearsal rooms. Something that is normally reserved for the select few… Artists will share their research questions. As the visitor, you are invited to watch and express your valuable opinions about prototypes and works in progress. O. Lab in WORM is one big creative space and you will be sitting in the front row as the processes unfold!

Locatie
