Moordballades
A really rough night, exploding with joy and brimming with ballads about death
Flip & ‘De Moordmannen’ (NL)
From behind the misted windows in a battered sailors’ tavern, ‘Het Bloedvergiet’ (The Massacre) music can always be heard, invariably live. Musicians and other riff-raff from all corners of the world alight on this watering hole and let their instruments do the talking. Each day a different hotchpotch ensemble pipes up. Every soul is welcome and anyone can play anything. Although there is one rule: someone has to die in every song. Preferably premeditated…
Flip Noorman and his impromptu band, aptly called ‘De Moordmannen’ (The Murderous Men) present a gruesome and hilarious set of self-penned murder ballads, sprinkled with some traditional folksongs around the same theme. In addition to partner Vera van der Bie (violin/vocals), members of the Amsterdams Andalusian Orchestra: Mehmet Polat (ud) and Alper Kekeç (percussion) will also join. It will be a r rough night, choc-a-bloc with insane sing-alongs, pub fights, characters who take the law into their own hands, sleepwalkers, and violent deaths that explode with a zest for life.
