Glossolalia
Live performance with choral singing and moving sound sources
Thomas Azier ft. Obi Blanche & vocal ensemble (NL/FI)
Glossolalia – an idea conceived by the Dutch artist Thomas Azier – is a live performance based on sound and movement in which choral singing and moving sound sources act as a metaphor for our chaotic society that sees multiple perceptions exist side by side.
Thomas: “I care little for the illusion of reality. In my opinion it is at odds with the principle of IRL (In Real Life) concerts, the interaction, the risk. Concerts are among the rare moments when I am fully engaged in the present. I am convinced we need to use this pandemic momentum to test alternative shared experiences.”
“Thomas is a pop artist seeking the experiment. He lets singers mingle with the audience, seeks the noise, and creates a live experience that nobody ever thought of before.” – Joost Heijthuijsen (dramaturg O.)
