On Ascension Day (a public holiday in the Netherlands), Schouwburgplein and its surroundings are used as a stage for the story of Rotterdam, which comprises multiple narratives and viewpoints with This Is Rotterdam!
For instance, in the hall of Rotterdam Central Station you will be greeted by several choirs that welcome everyone as they enter the city. Next, some very diverse musical performances will surprise you on Rotterdam Station Square or Kruiskade. Experience non-stop dance, singing, poetry, theatre, and music on a large stage in the centre of Schouwburgplein. Visit TR Schouwburg and De Doelen for performances that are all about finding your own identity and what this says about the city we live in.
Dit is Rotterdam is all about the Rotterdam people. It celebrates the city’s musical self-expression. Individuals as well as groups tell their stories and everyone is invited to come and listen!
With performances from a.o. Anne-Fay, Rāga Vani, Dakka Sultana, The Book of Premonitions, Stanley Clementina, Momo & Cici en artists associated with House of Urban Arts, O., Grounds and Theater Zuidplein. The time schedule will be released on the 18th of May. Check out the map here.
Dit is Rotterdam was awarded the Fedora Opera Prize, funded by The Silver Company.
